Shotgun!

So many good weapons to choose from, but which one's the best?

We all have that one weapon we favor in every video game. Is it the completely devastating shotgun? The sword that can slash through anything? The wrench you just love beating the crap out of enemies with?

A weapon doesn't have to be the strongest to be good. I base weapons on their style, their effectiveness, their notoriety, and how they handle.

Top 5 Best Weapons in Video Games

5. Ebony & Ivory
Devil May Cry Series
I'd recognize these lovely ladies just about anywhere. Dante's special guns of choice are semi-automatic pistols loaded with demonically enhanced bullets that decimate any demon that crosses their line of fine. They fire an endless stream of bullets and never have to be reloaded. Ivory, the white gun, was designed for rapid fire and quick draws while Ebony, the black gun, was designed for long-distance targeting. Together, these girls make one hell a deadly weapon!

4. Fat Man
Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas
What's the best way to take out a huge horde of Super Mutants? Why, launching a mini nuke at them to create a grand nuclear blast! The Fat Man is a tactical nuclear catapult weapon that uses mini nukes as ammunition. It's probably the most powerful weapon in the entire game for it's deadly accuracy and sheer amount of destructive force. You could wipe out all of Megaton with this thing! And if you somehow get bored, do what I do: aim the Fat Man at the ground directly below you, pull the trigger, and enjoy the view as you soar hundreds of feet into the air!

3. Master Sword
Legend of Zelda Series
The Blade of Evil's Bane, the Master Sword, has been wielded by a true Hero for the past 20 years (and hundreds of Zelda years)! This sword has time and again defeated Ganon, rescued Zelda, and saved Hyrule. It's so sacred that evil can never touch it's blade. In some games, you have to travel to temples and defeat bosses in order to fully restore the Master Sword's power, and when you do, it's a lot stronger and a lot more badass looking! While the Master Sword isn't exactly the most powerful weapon in video games, it certainly is Nintendo's most iconic.

2. Crowbar
Half-Life Series
Gordon Freeman's melee weapon of choice has grown to be probably the most iconic weapon in not just Half-Life, but countless other videos games as well. It's been referenced in Bioshock, GTA: San Andreas, Halo 3, Deus Ex, and a lot more! The crowbar may look like a simple hunk of cast iron, but it's an awesome weapon and a very helpful tool when it comes to solving puzzles or smashing things. Who needs a gun when you got a freaking crowbar to smash enemy heads in with!

1. Solid Snake
Metal Gear Solid Series
Yeah, that's right! Snake is the greatest weapon of all time ever! The Les Enfants Terribles project created him to be a clone of Big Boss so that he could be used by the Patriots as a "weapon" so to speak. Snake is a legendary war hero who's known as "the man who makes the impossible possible." Whatever weapon Snake is given, he will use it to take down anyone in his way. The thing is, Snake may actually be more deadly without a weapon! He can sneak up on any unsuspecting guard and, with one fluid motion, using only his bare hands, break the guard's neck. Even as Old Snake in MGS4, he's still able to take down anyone, despite his accelerated aging. In the end of MGS4, he's able to take on and defeat Liquid Snake in hand to hand combat in one final epic battle. This man is a living, breathing weapon.

Once we find that one special weapon that we love to handle, the rest of the game gets even better. If weapons like these were actually available in every day life, things would get a bit dangerous but a whole lot more fun.

Quotes That Chill You to the Bone

One of the things I love most in a game is dialogue, be it written or spoken.

You ever play a game, and one of the characters says something so creepy that it just makes your skin crawl? How about when just one line delivers the climax of the story so beautifully that you can never forget it? Oh! How about when the opening of the game, the very first line spoken, sets the mood of the game just perfectly?

Sometimes these quotes from video games are so compelling, that you will never forget them, the game, or the characters for a long time.

*Warning...Spoilers*

Top 5 Chilling Video Game Quotes

5. The cake is a lie.
Portal

Of course this would be on the list! Throughout the game, the evil computer GlaDOS repeatedly mentions that after you complete the experiment, you will receive some well deserved cake. Mmmmm...cake. You can't wait to sink your teeth into some moist chocolate icing. But what's this? You've stumbled upon a room with a message written by a past test subject! What does it say? "the cake is a lie. the cake is a lie. the cake is a lie. the cake is a lie." There never was any cake because GlaDOS has no intention in letting you survive the experiment. Of course you could've guess that already, but the delivery is appreciated.

4. Cut off their limbs.
Dead Space

This little message sprawled in blood is probably the best advice in the entire game. You soon learn that this really is the only way to quickly kill a necromorph, especially when there are about ten of them barreling towards you, ready to gauge out your innards and devour your head. It doesn't help when they move really fast, swinging their arms all over the place. It also doesn't help that whenever I see one of these things coming after me, I lose all my cool, scream my head off, and just pull the trigger, not really aiming for the limbs. Sadly, this often results in my death.

3. Rise and shine, Mr. Freeman.
Half-Life 2
Whoever watched the opening to Half-Life 2 and did not shudder at the G-Man's introductory speech has balls made of steel! Imagine waking up to this guy's voice, and the first thing you see are his eyes just staring at you. The G-Man is always there, always watching every move Gordon Freeman makes, even while he sleeps. The G-Man, who is pretty much the embodiment of mystery, opens the game in such a mysterious and chilling manner that it leaves the player looking forward to hours of gameplay. Oh, and instead of waking up to smell the coffee, poor Gordon has to "wake up...and smell the ashes."

2. War. War never changes.
Fallout

Hearing this phrase at the beginning of every Fallout game always makes goosebumps dance over my skin. Why? Because it's true! War has never changed, and it never will change. War has always consisted of weapons (from sticks and bones to tanks), fighters (from Mayan warriors to the U.S. Marine Corps.), destruction (from burning villages to bombing cities), and the slaughter of thousands of lives (from soldiers to civilians). Why would it be any different in the future? War never changes. (Unless you count Snake's monologue in the opening of Metal Gear Solid 4: "War. War has changed.)

1. Would you kindly?
Bioshock

When I saw these words, when I realized their meaning, my heart stopped. All this time...All this time you have been nothing more than an artificially created being, a puppet, that has been helping the enemy just because he said one simple phrase: Would you kindly? All this time you thought you were just innocently playing the game, following instructions and objectives, when really, every single thing you did was only because you had to, because you were told to, because you couldn't disobey. You had no choice; you were a slave. Players realize this as Andrew Ryan yells his final words as you viciously beat him to death "A man chooses; a slave obeys." All this time...you were a slave to just three, harmless, little words...Would you kindly?

No matter how many times we play the game...no matter how many times we hear an amazing quote, we will always experience that same chilling feeling as we did when we heard it for the first time.
With that being said...Would you kindly leave me some feedback on my blog?

Sorry Reader, But Your Blog is in Another Castle

Sorry reader, but your blog is in another castle!

We all know the basics of an adventure story: Princess kidnapped by Evil King. Hero must go on a journey to save Princess. Hero defeats Evil King and saves Princess. Hero rewarded with a "good job," a kiss, or sexy time with Princess. Happily Ever After!

It's pretty much no different in video games, but sometimes we discover that this Princess doesn't need so much saving.

Here are my Top 5 Kick-Ass Princesses in Video Games

5. Hilde
Soulcalibur Series
You won't find the Princess of Wolfkrone sitting nicely in her room, sipping tea and reading a book. Rather, you might want to look for the 18 year old decked out in armor carrying a spear and leading an entire kingdom. This Princess is pretty much her own knight in shining armor! Hilde is not only strong, but brave, noble, and a just ruler. She was forced to mature faster than others when the king went ape-shit crazy. Now it's her responsibility to protect her kingdom against Soul Edge.

4. Zelda
Legend of Zelda Series
What's a Legend of Zelda game without Zelda? (Aside from Link's Awakening, of course). This iconic Princess has been kidnapped, turned to stone, entrapped in a crystal, and possessed one too many times. However, she is always there to lend her knight in shining armor (or Hylian in a green tunic) a hand when he most needs it. Whether it's disguising herself as a Shiekah and offering Link sage advice or firing arrows of light at Ganon, this Princess will risk everything to protect Hyrule.

3. Kitana
Mortal Kombat
Kitana is the Princess of Edenia that looks good for being 10,000 years old. This Mortal Kombat character has led a life full of messed up family problems (to say the least), especially since Shao Kahn is her stepdad. Instead of sitting on her ass and waiting for some prince to help her, Kitana leads an entire army into Outworld to break her stepdad's hold on it. Not only that, but she also takes some time out of her busy schedule to beat the hell out of fighters with her steel fans.

2. Peach
Super Mario Series
Princess Peach?!? The Princess who has been getting kidnapped by Bowser for the past 20 years? How could she be on this list? Well, let me clarify! Peach has been the signature damsel in distress, but how many Princesses had to rescue their Heroes from the Evil King? In Super Princess Peach, the Lady in Pink here had to battle her way through eight worlds to rescue her beloved Mario from Bowser's evil clutches. Talk about role reversal, huh? Plus, she knows how to take care of herself in Super Mario RPG and Super Paper Mario.

1. Elika
Prince of Persia
When this Princess goes down, she does NOT stay down! Elika has defied death (with the help of her dad, a tree, and a very dark and evil god that's soul purpose is to break free from its prison and destroy the world by covering it with darkness and corruption) in order to save not only her kingdom, but the entire world. She is an essential companion for the Prince with her powers, acrobatics, and unique fighting skills. Elika is anything but a damsel in distress, and if you're like me, Elika's the one doing most of the saving when you fall off a very high up cliff.

Sometimes it's the Princess that's doing most of the work out there! These Princesses aren't all frilly dresses and tiara wearing ladies (minus Peach). They prefer to kick ass and defend their kingdoms, no matter what it takes!
